RESUMENSpathoglottis
plicata es un género de orquídea originario del sureste de Asia y
naturalizado en Cuba. Es una planta considerada de fácil cultivo.
Después de varios años de estudio el cultivar Spathoglottis ´Memoria
Aide Alonso´ es obtenido, resultado del cruzamiento realizado en mayo
del 2010 entre Spathoglottis plicata ´Lorita´ y Spathoglottis ´Bella
Lorena´. Se encuentra registrado en la base de datos de la Sociedad
Hortícola Real de Inglaterra, Lista de Sander´s 2018.
INTRODUCCIÓNDesde
el año 2009, los registros realizados por el Instituto Nacional de
Ciencias Agrícolas (INCA) constituyen un aporte importante a la historia
de la hibridación orquideológica de Cuba, al publicar por primera vez
un grupo de híbridos en la Lista Completa de las Orquídeas Híbridas de
Sanders, Sociedad Hortícola Real de Inglaterra y en el Catálogo
Descriptivo de Variedades del Ministerio de la Agricultura, destacándose
los híbridos terrestres del género Spathoglottis, entre ellos: Bella Lorena, Memoria Celia Sánchez Manduley, Sabrina & Abel y Ecos de Festivalia.
OrigenEn este trabajo se presentan las principales características de un nuevo cultivar de orquídea, perteneciente al género Spathoglottis. ´Memoria Aide Alonso´, es el resultado del cruzamiento realizado en mayo del 2010 entre Spathoglottis plicata ´Lorita´ y Spathoglottis ´Bella Lorena´. Las semillas híbridas fueron cultivadas in vitro
y las primeras plantas florecieron en enero del 2012. Después de varios
años de estudio de la descendencia, se propone a este genotipo como
nuevo híbrido, el cual posee excelente potencial ornamental. Se
encuentra registrado en la base de datos de la Sociedad Hortícola Real
de Inglaterra, máxima institución encargada del registro internacional
de orquídeas híbridas.
Características del genotipo Spathoglottis ´Memoria Aide Alonso´Hierba
terrestre, robusta de 0,50-0,70 m incluyendo el escapo floral.
Pseudobulbos ovoides de color verde. Hojas plicadas, de 3-5 por
pseudobulbos. Escapo floral cilíndrico, de hasta dos por bulbo, de
0,40-0,50 m de largo, erecto, parte distal bracteada, brácteas elíptica a
ovales, de color rosado verdoso, con una sola flor en la axila. Botones
florales de color amarillo verdoso con betas rosadas (Figura 1).
Flores de 7 cm de diámetro, pétalos y sépalos de color amarillo
tornándose de color cremoso al cursar los días. Labelo trilobulado,
lóbulos laterales suborbiculares de color amarillo con puntos rojizos,
lóbulo central estipitado de coloración rosada con dos callosidades
erectas en la base del estípite de color amarillo. Columna 1,8-2,0 cm de
color amarilla con extremo rosado. Frutos de coloración verdosa.

naturalized in Cuba. It is considered as a plant of an easy growth.

plicata ´Lorita´ and Spathoglottis ´Bella Lorena´ in may 2010. It is

Sciences (INCA) constitute an important contribution to the history of
Cuban orchid hybridization, by publishing a group of hybrids for the

OriginIn this work we present the main characteristics of a new orchid cultivar, belonging to the genus Spathoglottis. 'Memoria Aide Alonso', is the result of the crossing carried out in May 2010 between Spathoglottis plicata 'Lorita' and Spathoglottis
'Bella Lorena'. The hybrid seeds were cultivated in vitro and the first
plants bloomed in January 2012. After several years of study of the
offspring, this genotype is proposed as a new hybrid, which has
excellent ornamental potential. It is registered in the database of the
Royal Horticultural Society of England, the highest institution
responsible for the international registration of hybrid orchids.
Characteristics of the Spathoglottis genotype 'Memoria Aide Alonso'Terrestrial,
robust grass of 0.50-0.70 m including the floral scape. Ovoid
pseudobulbs of green color. Leaves lanceolate, of 3-5 by pseudobulbs.
Floral cylindrical scape, up to two per bulb, 0.40-0.50 m long, erect,
distal part bracteate, bracts elliptical to oval, greenish pink, with a
single flower in the armpit. Floral buttons greenish yellow with pink
betas (Figure 1). Flowers of 7 cm of diameter, petals
and sepals of yellow color becoming of creamy color during the days. Lip
trilobulate, lateral lobes suborbicular yellow with reddish spots,
stipulated central lobe of pink coloration with two erect callosities at
the base of the yellow stipe. Column 1.8-2.0 cm yellow with pink tip.
Fruits of greenish coloration.
