Effects of Biobras-6 and MH-5 on callus induction and plant regeneration in lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.)
Main Article Content
Abstract
order to evaluate the effect of two spirostane analogues of
brassinosteroids termed Biobras-6 and MH-5 on callus
induction and plant regeneration in lettuce (Lactuca sativa)
var. Brasil 221. In the first experiment, both analogues were
added at two concentrations (0.001 and 0.01 mg.L-1) to MS
culture medium containing 0.1 mg.L-1 6-BAP, whereas in the
second one, both concentrations of the products were added
but cytokinin concentration was reduced to 50 %. In both
experiments, 0.1 mg.L-1 6-BAP was used as control treatment.
Results showed that BB-6 and MH-5 enhanced both callus
formation and shoot regeneration from cotyledons only when
added at determined concentrations with 0.1 mgL-1 6-BAP to
the culture medium.
