Abstract

This experiment was conducted on a Ferruginous
Nodular Gley Hidromorphic soil from ??Los Palacios? Rice
Research Station, using 1.0 x 1.0 m pots within 2000 poorlyrainy
and 2000 rainy seasons. The commercial INCA LP-5
variety was studied in a randomized complete design with four
treatments and four replicates, which were from flooding for
48 hours up to soil saturation, the latter saving 50-51 % of the
overall water consumed over the first application to germination
in these kinds of soil; the highest germination percentage from
90 to 100 % was recorded with saturated soil.
