Abstract

An experiment was developed to control red rice in ??Los Palacios? Rice Research Station during 1994-1996 period. 20 seeds were put in 0.25-m2-pots at 5 cm deep. Water management treatments from flooding and later draining until water passes and later flooding were performed. A total and effective control was achieved in 40 days when applying flooding and later draining, compared to the traditional method (water passes and later flooding), removing the weed from the infested area. In hotter months, a marked influence of this variable was recorded when water temperature was higher in the pots, which is a positive effect to control red rice.
