Abstract

19 rice germplasm entries were studied with the objective of morphologically characterizing a group of varieties. They were seeded according to a randomized complete design with four replications. The System of Standard Evaluation for Rice and Varietal Description Form were the methodologies used in the study. Agronomic and morphological characters were evaluated, also the vegetative vigor, plant erection, shattering resistance, lodging and piriculariosis as well as senescence. The data obtained
underwent a Multivariate Analysis and there were varietal differences for most of the characters evaluated, also presenting strong and positive correlations among full grains per panicle and panicles per square meter with yield. Besides, related groups were formed, where group I genotypes gathering a bigger number of favourable characters were remarkable.
