Review The role of weeds as a component of biodiversity in agroecosystems

Abstract

Agriculture consider weeds as undesirable in agroecosystems. However, a great amount of farmers of the tropics, estimate then by their value and benefit they bring in an agricultural system. In this paper, it is disclosed the importance of incorporating different scientific disciplines and weed management systems in agriculture with less impact on the environment. Besides it is refered to the usefulness of important weeds as plants: biocides, medicinal, soil improve, new crops and source of food for humans and animals.
