Abstract

The Musa Conventional Plant Breeding Program (bananas and plantain) in the world is based on crossings between commercial triploids and wild or improved diploids that aims to develop new cultivars. The Instituto de Investigaciones de Viandas Tropicales (INIVIT) developed a breeding program for hybridization, from which a hybrid of bluggoe subgroup has been obtained, the ‘INIVIT PB-2012’, with the greatest agroproductive response and good adaptability to drought.
