Abstract

To carry out local development at strategies with
a focus on gender, is an objective of work on local development
field. From this concept, this work was developed in the
municipality of San José de las Lajas, CCS «Orlando Cuellar»
and housewives in the villages of San José and the comunity
of Tapaste and two municipalities of Mayabeque province:
Santa Cruz del Norte CCS Batabano «Jose Castellanos» and
CCS «9 de Abril» with the main objective of implementing
participatory activities with focus on gender, allowing the
development of women within the agricultural contexts on
study. This involved workshops dealing with: awareness,
training and exchange between farmers, using participatory
diagnostic techniques with a focus on gender, which allowed
to identify the needs of men and women, to determine the
roles, the sexual division of work, limiting the agricultural
production and marketing difficulties. Also, in workshops were
built equity indicators through the Assessment Indicators and
Dimensions of Gender Equity method as strategy in the study,
being selected seventeen indicators. The result of this study
showed that most of the indicators were statistically different
among themselves, except the indicators «Women get income
from their production» and «Women and men with access to
sales of products».
