Abstract

A Cuban black tobacco hybrid with cytoplasmic
male sterility, high agricultural yields, resistance to the main
diseases and a good organoleptic quality was obtained at the
Tobacco Research Institute of Cuba, by means of hybridization.
Its appropriate agricultural performance has been validated in
different tobacco-growing zones and its organoleptic quality
fits Cuban black tobacco pattern, which permits to be
commercially used for raw material production to manufacture
the worldly-known ??Havana Cigars??.
