Abstract

Cuba is engaged in searching and designing
new phytohormones, such as Pectimorf and xyloglucans,
which are oligosaccharide mixtures from pectic (Patent No.
22859/2003) and hemicellulose polysaccharides, respectively.
It has been reported that both are endogenous regulators of
plant development and morphogenesis and can also elicit
defence responses. However, less well-known are molecular
mechanisms activated. That is the reason to continue studying
to evaluate the role they play and the ways by which these
compounds act on plant development. To get a first approach
to the action mechanism of both compounds on the genome,
the expression of four isoenzymatic systems - peroxidases,
poliphenoloxidases, carbonic anhidrase and esterases- was
analyzed  in two varieties of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.),
treated with both bioproducts. Data obtained were statistically
analyzed by means of a package of NTSYS-PC programs and
their importance was valued on the development and
morphogenetic mechanisms of plants. As a result, characteristic
zimotypes were obtained per each isoenzymatic system for
the two varieties (H-2000 and H-2.1.1) studied. Also, inhibition
and/or induction of some isoforms were observed in plants
grown in a medium supplemented with both bioregulators, in
comparison to the controls used. These results evidenced a
modulation on the expression of genetic information mediated
by these products, at least, for the four systems analyzed in
this crop.
