Report of new varieties Maruca: a new Cuban potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) variety

Abstract
Institute of Agricultural Sciences (INCA) in 1985, with the
objective of obtaining disease-resistant, high-yielding Cuban
potato varieties with nice tuber quality. Consequently, six
varieties were achieved; Maruca is a new variety resulting
from the classical hybridization method. It has high-yields,
good tuber quality for fresh consumption and is moderately
susceptible to A. solani. It is commercially recorded as a new
Cuban variety, granted by the National Center of Crop
Protection from the Ministry of Agriculture of Cuba. This paper
presents its main characteristics and pedigree.
