Abstract

Some trials with true potato seed (TPS) and seed
tubers were planted during 2003-2004 seasons at the National
Institute of Agricultural Sciences (INCA), with the objective
to study phenotypic uniformity and agronomic characteristics
in seven hybrid combinations. Yields, tuber number per m2
and tuber color as well as shape uniformity were evaluated. It
was verified that the offsprings Zolushka, MFI x TPS-67, Serrana
x TPS-67 and the control Atzimba x TPS-13 showed the
best behavior for tuber number and weight per m2, when they
were reproduced by true seed in nursery beds; when they
were studied through seed tubers, the offsprings Zolushka,
Atzimba x TPS-13 and the control Desirée reached superior
yields to 35 t.ha-1. As for tuber color and shape uniformity, all
the offsprings studied were classified as standards, except
Atzimba x TPS-13, that showed a poor tuber shape uniformity.
