Abstract

The cassava is a basic food for many ruralfamilies of low resources; it has constituted a valuable foodfrom times of the aboriginal ones, a lot before the arrival of theSpaniards forming part of the selection of roots and tubersthat the cubans commonly denominate viandas. In this workthe main aspect of this kind of cultivation are approached asfor their importance, botanical characteristics, planting time,commercial clones, as well as propagation forms and theexperiences achieved in seed dissemination and/or varieties.
