Ripening disorders recorded in tomato genotypes growing in Cuba
Main Article Content
Abstract
Institute of Agricultural Sciences (INCA), to study the sun
blotch performance in 17 tomato varieties cultivated under
winter and summer conditions. Different morphoagronomic
characters related with plant architecture and fruits were
evaluated. Also, the frequency, occurrence and severity of
sun blotch symptoms were observed. Results showed a high
rate of sun blotch in fruits, with symptoms from yellow shoulder
(YS) to internal white tissue (IWT). There was not any
correlation between the presence of sun blotch
morphoagronomic variables. The occurrence and severity depended
on climatic and genetic factors and their interaction.
Results recommend the necessity to perform a detailed genetic
study on the susceptible and tolerant germplasm, with the
objective to understand fruit disorder causes and
development.
