Abstract

With the objective of determining the changescaused by aluminium on rice (Oryza sativa) seedling rootmorphogenesis of the Cuban variety INCA LP-7, an experimentwas developed where the levels of aluminium used to imposestress were 0, 20 and 100 mg.L-1. During the study, somemorphological variables like root length and adventitious rootnumber were analyzed, while root apexes were processed bythe traditional method for light microscopy, to evaluateanatomical variables such as root diameter, number anddiameter of xylem vessels in its cross section. Results allowedto know the changes caused by aluminium on root systemmorphology and anatomy, making evident how much damageis provoked by aluminium toxic concentrations on this crop, mainly taking into account that any root disorder will reboundon the successful development of plant and its yield.
