Abstract

The objective of the present work was to establishthe bases for the agroecological zoning of the cocoa(Theobroma cocoa, Lin) by means of the approach of expertsby means of the method Delphi. Experts of different sphereswere selected and it was determined the level of experienceand the level of each expert??s competition regarding the problemrelated with the definition of the factors that they define thelocation of the cultivation. This was developed andimplemented a system of rounds of questions or questionnairesthat emerged from statistical processing of each roundthereafter, where parameters were determined: half arithmeticof the evaluation of the experts to each question, standarddeviation and variance (dispersion of the evaluations of eachquestion). Starting from these statisticians the variationcoefficient was determined (level of agreement) that togetherwith the level of relevance; they constituted the elementsdiscriminates that allowed to propose the variables in thesubsequent questionnaires. The results allowed to determineseven experts for consultation rounds of questions, with alevel of competition means and high, with valuations averageof the competition coefficient (K) similar to 0,89. it wasdetermined that the genetic, socioeconomic factors and thephysiographics don??t keep relationship with the definition ofthe place for the development of the cultivation; however, theclimatic factors (precipitations and temperature) and the soils(types and depth) they were those of more influence to definethe location of the cocoa, and they constituted the mainelements of the bases for the agroecological zoning of thecultivation.
