Abstract

An investigation was conducted with theobjective to evaluate a participatory methodology for maize�??shybrid development, in agricultural low inputs conditions atfarmer�??s property in La Palma, province of Pinar del Río. Wereused as progenitors, ten varieties more votes received duringthe maize diversity�??s fair. Two self fecundation cycles wasperformed as well as the evaluation of eight describers. Therecessive charge was analyzed in F1 and consanguineousdepression was evaluated for each generation. All data wereprocessed using Excel and SPSS 11.5. It was found that linesdidn�??t tolerate the consanguineous depression in the secondgeneration in low use of agricultural inputs, and F1 generationfrom local progenitors, manifest lower depression that thoseobtained from progenitors from other provinces of the country.
