Crop Genetic Diversity (CROPDIVER): a software to optimize varietal structure composition and parent recommendation based on genetic diversity

Abstract
software to the users. CROPDIVER is a Microsoft Excel sheet,
programmed in Visual Basic for Application (VBA), personalized
by means of incorporating a tool bar which permits to have
access to the options selected by users. This application was
developed to help parent selection for breeding purposes and
rice varieties which will be commercially used for optimizing
their selection based on genetic diversity criteria. The software
enables to obtain genetic inbreeding and relationship
estimates within the material selected from a database
(currently only to rice crop), as well as the field genetic
uniformity caused by its use; also it offers recommendations
about optimal area proportions to breed the selected varieties.
Using this software, it is possible to monitor genetic diversity
in several commercial areas over different periods. Thus, it is
useful to develop studies about crop genetic diversity trends,
thereby, to trace crop management policies.
