Abstract

The interspecific competition effect on chayagrowth and productivity was evaluated with variable plantingdensity (PD), in a black rendzina soil in Noh-Bec, QuintanaRoo, Mexico. Chaya was set at 1.50 x 3.00 m, using cuttingswithout leaves; it was associated with young trees (less than2 years old) of Cedrela odorata and Citrus latifolia in a??Nelder?? circle planting design of 3154 m2. Eight PD from 2602to 3772 plants.ha-1 were established with 10 repetitions.Response variables were: rooting capacity, growth rate, vigorindex, index of leaf area and biomass production. The highestrooting of chaya cuttings occurred from 2889 to 3772 plants.ha-1;however, the best growth and productivity was obtained from2706 to 2889 plants.ha-1.
