Abstract

The priority to diminish herbicide consumption
for weed control in citrus crop defined the searching of viable
ecological alternatives. Thus, the effects of an improved cover
crop with Neonotonia wightii legumes over the vegetal
composition in strips of Valencia Late orange plantation (Citrus
sinensis L. Osbeck) were evaluated in ??José Martí?
Agricultural Production Cooperative in Ceballos, Ciego de
Avila. The walk of 400 m2 was used as experimental unit to
evaluate orange production indicators. After two years of
covering establishment, a significant general reduction of
associate weeds was obtained, 68.4 % of the magnoliatas
species as well as 94 % of the poaceas, with the consequent
yield rise on the main crop.
