The use of two brassinosteroid analogs in the embryogenic callus formation of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.)
Main Article Content
Abstract
analogs MH5 and Biobras-6 (BB-6) was evaluated with the
objective to determine its effects and establish appropriate
doses as possible substitutes or hormonal complements in
the process of embryogenic callus formation in potato
(Solanum tuberosum, L. var. Desirée). Doses of 0.0001 until
0.25 mg.L-1 of both analogs and two control media were used,
which contained: 3 mg.L-1 2,4D and 0.84 mg.L-1 kinetine (medium I)
and 0.5 mg.L-1 2,4D and 2 mg.L-1 kinetine (medium II).
Evaluations were carried out to the qualitative and quantitative
changes of callus evolution and the callogenic growth curves
were made with the best variants. Results indicated a cytokinin
like activity of these compounds and an enhanced achievement of
a better embryogenic callus at the concentrations of 0.1 mg.L-1
MH5 and 0.01 mg.L-1 Biobras-6 for medium I and 0.001 mg.L-1
MH5 and 0.01 mg.L-1 Biobras-6 for medium II. There was not
any callus answer when these analogs were used as substitutes
of 2,4D. A better behavior was noticed in the growth dynamics
of calluses, in those treatments where the products were used
as kinetine substitutes for media I and II.
