Abstract

Drainage is one of the most important agriculturalpractices for soil improvement, avoiding flooding and it is aneffective way to increase crop yields; thus, these are amongothers the advantages of its practice in the worldwideagriculture. Drainage enables not only to remove badconditions but also reduces to a minimum the possibilities ofplants to be attacked by pests and diseases. Soil fertilityenhances when its physical properties improve and theconditions are favorable for its formation processes, whichguarantees a high harvest production. Likewise, soilproductivity depends on the degree of drainage andagricultural measurements performed. They both assureharvest yield increments twice or three times, compared withnon-drained, marshy or flooded soils.
