Abstract

124 entries from the collection of rice (Oryza sativa L.) germplasm were studied, using two methodologies: standard evaluation system for rice and varietal description form for rice, with the objective of evaluating germplasm and putting at the breeders´disposal the information retrieved to be used in future breeding programs. The evaluated variables comprise morphological and agronomical describers as well as the behavior in front of the occurrence of Pyricularia grisea and resistance to shattering, lodging and senescence. They were grouped in 20 classes based on the characters studied using the Main Components and Cluster Analyses. Results proved germplasm variability and correlations were appreciated among variables. Results are discussed and the most remarkable genotypes in the different parameters are shown.
