Abstract

At Tsukuba International Center (TBIC),
belonging to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA),
located at Ibaraki Prefecture, some growth and development
parameters were studied, from March to September 2006, in
four rice varieties: J-104, Bluebonnet-50, Suweon-294 and
Nipponbare. During crop development since May 5, the
following growth development parameters: stalk number, leaf
number, plant height, fertilized tillers, agricultural yield (t.ha-1)
and its components, as well as green color intensity were
weekly evaluated and some differences were observed. J-104
variety showed the best behavior for green color intensity of
leaves, panicle grain number, 100-grain weight and agricultural
yield, whereas the best results were obtained by the Japanese
variety, Nipponbare, for the other growth and development
parameters.
