Review Plant growth promoting bacteria in rice (Oryza sativa L.). Perspectives of its application in Cuba
Main Article Content
Abstract
work supplies worldwide, besides that it is highly consumed.
As a sustainable agriculture strategy, crop yield increments
have been encouraged through combining chemical fertilizers
and biofertilizers adequately. In this sense, the application of
microbial inoculants has been proved as an ecological
alternative to preserve the environment and ecosystem. The
Plant Growth Promoting Bacteria (PGPB) are among the main
groups of microorganisms used with this purpose, due to
their abilities of interacting with plants through different
mechanisms of action, such as phytohormone production,
biological nitrogen fixation and pathogen biocontrol. The aim
of this work was to review the importance of employing PGPB,
dealing with some relevant subjects, such as their isolation
and identification methods, as well as their main mechanisms
of action, showing their potential to be used in an essential
crop like rice.
