N uptake efficiency of maize (Zea mays L.) crop as affected by organic manures applied to a Fluvisol
Main Article Content
Abstract
the degree of N utilization in two harvests of maize rotated
with cowpea (Vigna unguiculata, Walp), because of the effect
of several types of organic manures on the soil. Therefore,
five types of organic manures were applied to the soil, each of
them supplying 475 kg.ha-1 N, comparing N efficiency with a
control without manure. Experimental variants were arranged
in a Randomized Block design in the field. It was found that
organic sources with C/N ratios of 11.0 to 12.2 showed the
highest efficiency. The maximum efficiency value was 10.36 % N
in a six months period, which positively influence yield.
Concerning organic sources with C/N ratios of 20, there was
negative efficiency, similarly to the statistical check, affecting
yield or tending to reduce it.
