Abstract

Drought tolerance in Cuban wheat genotypes
obtained by mutation induction was studied considering
seedling germination and growth as well as agricultural yield
and soil depth for root exploration. Genotypes were defined in
two groups using the Cluster analysis based on Euclidean
distance for the initial stages of plant growth tolerance indexes
and in three groups based on harvest indexes, showing the
presence of genetical variability and recording the best
behavior in INIFAT RM-26 and INIFAT RM-36; therefore, these
varieties can be introduced in areas with a low water supply.
The coincidence coefficient value W=0.82 revealed the
existence of a high congruence degree among the established
classifications, indicating the possibility to evaluate drought
tolerance based on seedling growth and other agronomical
indicators during harvesting.
