Abstract

Roses are the most appreciated woody plant
flowers cultivated in gardening. The cut flower market is
growing, and its high consumption during the latest years
demands a higher product quality. Plant formation and the
handling of its architecture notably influences flower size
and weight as well as stem length and diameter. This paper
presents rosebush formation and handling techniques like
pruning (the most commonly used crop management in Cuba)
and bending (a new handling technique with satisfactory
results), which allow a better plant development and flower
quality.
