Some defensive enzymes stimulated in rice (Oryza sativa L.) plants obtained from chitosan-treated seeds
Main Article Content
Abstract
ecological and economic methods for pest and disease control.
The chitosan is an elicitor that stimulates defensive
mechanisms in plants, which confer disease resistance. This
work presents the first results obtained in Cuba by using
chitinous elicitors in rice Crop, particularly the chitosan
obtained in the Department of the crop Physiology and
Biochemistry from the National Institute of Agricultural
Sciences (INCA). During the investigation, the effect of this
compound applied to seed was in vivo determined, to
estimulate some defensive enzymes, such as PAL, glucanase,
chitinase and chitosanase in rice plants (cv. J-104). The highest
increment of enzymatic activity was recorded in treated plants
compared to the control. The best dose used was 1000 mg.L-1.
