Abstract

Fourteen native strains belonging to
Azospirillum brasilense species were characterized for their
capacity to fix atmospheric nitrogen. Their effect was studied
on rice (Oryza sativa) cultivation by means of Microcosm
model. Inoculated plant height, fresh weight of root, free phenol
content and protein quantification were determined in leaves.
A positive effect for the inoculation with these rhizobacteria
was observed in all cases, R5(15) strain being remarkable with
the highest increments of the indicators studied.
