Abstract

A diagnosis work was carried out with the
objective of characterizing crop diversity in orchards, plots
and yards of the North, South and Jamaica Councils from San
José de las Lajas, for the participatory selection, adaptation or
adoption of new species and varieties of cut flowers in
production systems of the urban agriculture of the municipality.
Their main crops stablished in the productive systems were
vegetables, followed by fruit-trees and flowers. In general, it
can be considered that the knowledge about technologies of
flower production are still insufficient, although a qualification
work is carried out with producers according to their needs
and conditions, fomenting the use of appropriate technologies
for increasing their productions. Through surveys carried out
to producers, it was recorded that 80 % surpasses 60 years of
age, there are different study levels and just three of them
belong to the territory.
