Analysis of genetic diversity in tomato (Solanum L. section Lycopersicon subsection Lycopersicon) by using AFLP
Main Article Content
Abstract
useful genes for germplasm improvement to biotic and abiotic
stresses. For this reason, the present work was aimed to
estimate by AFLP analysis the genetic diversity existing in a
representative sample of ex situ Cuban tomato germplasm
including local varieties, commercial varieties and S. lycopersicum
var. Cerasiforme, S. pimpinellifollium, S. habrochaites, S. pennelli
and S. peruvianum wild species. Interrelationships between
the different accessions were estimated after AFLP
fingerprinting using MseI/PstI enzyme combinations and a
number of selective primer pairs. Genotyping was determined
as presence or absence of bands in each accession using the
UPGMA cluster analysis and processed by NTSYS-pc soft-
ware. The five AFLP primer combinations produced 305
amplification products with 69 polimorphic bands (22.6 %)
will be associated to different patterns of S. peruvianum,
S. pennellii and S. habrochaites wild tomato shows a relatively
low level of polymorphism among tomato accessions.
