Abstract

A field experiment was conducted on a compacted Red Ferralitic soil in 1998 and 1999, with the objective of studying the effect produced by the combination of biofertilizers (AZOFERT and ECOMIC) and brassinosteroid analog (BIOBRAS-16) on tomato growth, development and yield. Simngle and mixed combinations of biofertilizers and BIOBRAS-16 were made. The results showed that AZOFERTECOMIC coinoculation and BIOBRAS-16 applied at the
beginning of flowering stage increased crop yield; besides, it
allowed to save 60 kg.ha-1 nitrogen. A high rhizobacterial
population was obtained in the rhizosphere as well as a positive
infection percentage of the mycorrhizal fungus.
