Abstract

Testing with participatory methodologies in the
urban environment let the present work demonstrate the
feasibility of applying participatory plant breeding as an
approach to agricultural diversity for urban farmers, also
involving local actors from San José las Lajas and Arroyo
Naranjo. Such results allowed to obtain a work methodology
and increase crop diversity in tomato, green bean, banana and
lettuce as well as to qualify them for managing these crops
biofertilizers and to preserve this handmade diversity.
