Abstract

A field study was carried out on the national seed-tuber production of 13 foreign potato varieties at the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences (INCA). Tuber weight and number per size of each variety were evaluated, as
well as potato performance against early blight and common
scab. Phenotypic differences were recorded among the varieties studied, Ajiba, Inova, Maranca and Armada reaching the highest tuber values related to seed size 30-60 mm whereas the highest number of total tubers per plant were obtained by Arnova, Ajiba, Maranca and Armada. Potato haulm from Inova, Rodeo, Arnova, besides Romano and Desirée used as control,
was the least affected by Alternaria solani fungus. The highest
seed tuber yields (t.ha-1) were reached by Arnova and Armada
varieties.
