Abstract

In ??Los Palacios? Rice Enterprise and «Taichí»
Cuban-Chinese Mixed Company, a group of short and midterm
varieties were evaluated during 2000 and 2001, with the
objective of their validation in cereal productive areas and the
recommendation of the best genotypes for their generalization
in Pinar del Río and the whole country. Mid cycle varieties
INCA LP-2 and INCA LP-4 showed better behavior as well as
the short cycle variety INCA LP-5, over J-104 and ??Perla de
Cuba? for agricultural and industrial yields, blast tolerance in
the field and percentage of unfilled grains. The agricultural
yield reached by INCA LP-2 and INCA LP-5 genotypes in
??Taich Company surpassed the historical average production
of this cereal in Pinar del Rio and Cuba, which is about 3 t.ha-1.
