Abstract

The study to obtain this new variety started at theNational Institute of Agriculture Sciences (INCA) in 1997 and itsperformance has been evaluated in Ciego de Ávila, Matanzas andHavana provinces. Such a variety has big tubers with yellow skincolour, oval-oblong shape, shallow eyes, field resistance againstAlternaria solani fungus and a good behaviour under cold storageconditions. The potential yields surpassed 36 t.ha-1 and the dry mattercontent is over 18 %. It has reached high values for tuber organolepticattributes (colour, scent, flavour and texture), so that it can be usedfor fresh consumption and industrial processing.
