Abstract

The behavior of new rice lines 8610, 8736 and 8734 was studied at the Laboratory of Genetics from the Rice Research Station as well as the varieties Pokkali and Amistad-82 (control), tolerant and susceptible respectively to salinity at different saline concentrations (0.4, 0.7, 1.0 %) and a control with distilled water. Germination percentage, plant height and root system length were evaluated, showing a different genotype behavior under several saline tenors. The lines 8736 and 8734 showed a better behavior, at the three parameters analyzed for this stress, in comparison to tolerant control. With the increasing saline concentrations, the first stages of plant growth were affected.
