A methodology for the agroecological zoning of Coffea arabica in Cuba
Main Article Content
Abstract
of a crop, firstly it is necessary to know their ecological
requirements, and then define the bases for the zoning; for
this reason, the present work was developed; a database was
created with the information of more than 100 experimental
places; this base consists of 13 fields that pick up the whole
information of each one of these places. The program designed
allows to analyze which of the variables considered has
influenced coffee behavior. The analysis showed that the fundamental
elements of climate are rainfall, daily temperature and
soils; the latter was defined by the types and aptitude for
coffee as well as their effective depth. Then, the categories
were defined for the agroecological zoning of the coffee, which
are: good, moderately good, acceptable and useless; in each
of them the potential coffee yields are fitted. This methodology
was validated in ??Sagua-Nipe-Baracoa? montainous zone.
