Abstract

A national potato breeding program was developed at
the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences (INCA) for almost
three decades, with the aim of obtaining more adapted varieties to our
climatic conditions as well as with adequate characteristics for fresh
and industrial consumption. This study started in 1993 and the variety
has been evaluated under field conditions for more than four years. It
has a high-yielding potential and yellow tubers; it is tolerant to
Alternaria solani fungus and resistant to PLRV in the field. It has a
high dry weight content (>19 %), so that it is appropriate for industrial
manufacture.
